According to Amazon, their latest Kindle, the Paperwhite, is "the world's most advanced e-reader". It's a bold claim - but they might be right.
Just at the moment, you would need to be more than a little contrary to choose a reader other than the Kindle. The Kindle paperwhite reader really just confirms Amazon's total domination of the ebook reader market - and Barnes and Noble must be wondering what on earth they have to do to challenge Amazon, or to make any further inroads into the market for that matter.
After all, they had the Nook Touch out before the Kindle Touch - and some people felt that it was a better reader than the Kindle regardless of the chronology. Nevertheless, Amazon beat them all ends up last Christmas.
And it now looks to be the same story with the Paperwhite e-reader and the Nook Glowlight. Nook had their reader to market well in advance of Amazon. All the same, it's the Paperwhite that's getting all of the attention - and it's the Paperwhite that is going to be found under most trees on Christmas morning in 2012 (just like the Kindle Touch was in 2011).
Barnes and Noble must be thoroughly sick of it - but, for the time being at least, it looks like they are destined to play Robin to Amazon's Batman. It might turn out to be that way in perpetuity unfortunately.
